The University of Hatfield is one of the top 100 universities in the world. Following a successful project, we were tasked with updating the lighting system at the campus Student Union building, comprising five bars and two clubs. We carried out investigation work before simplifying existing systems to make them more user-friendly and reliable. To minimise disruption we designed a solution where no re-wiring was required.
The full works included:
- Removal of existing lighting control system
- Design supply and installation of a new control system and dimmer racks
- Global control system for the main venue combining multiple dimming racks and control plates
- Bespoke control programming to suit the venues multiple uses
The result is stunning yet simple lighting display including external colour wall washers that makes the Union come to life every night. To make more of the Union’s facilities by day we also designed split-use lighting so that one of the venues nightclubs could be transformed into a light, airy building suitable for conferences.
